Have you ever been “Up North”?

Up North is a common expression to refer to the North Central region of the USA, near the Grand Lakes and the Canadian border. And this is where Minneapolis is located. Spending time in a cabin near one of the over 10,000 lakes in the State is a unique experience, highly recommended to all visitors. And there is also a lot to do in the town too!

Hotel “Room Block” at a special price

We negotiated a special price per night in the Hotel Radisson Blu MoA, adding a good discount on top of their reduced price to travel agencies. Really a good deal!
Use the link from “accommodation” page to book your room (https://book.passkey.com/e/50636622).

This room block will be closed by May 10th or when sold out. Don’t leave it to the last minute!!

How can you get there?

MSP airport is one of the main hubs for Delta Airlines, and it is very well attended by most national and international carriers. Once you land, just follow the signs to Light Rail Metro Transit and you will be in the Mall of America in about 13 min and paying only 2 dollars (as of September 2023)!

Most long-haul flights land in Terminal 1. Then, follow the signs for the Light Rail Transit / Terminal 2 (after disembarking, take the Tram to get to the Light Rail Transit Station). If you land in Terminal 2, follow the signs at “Light Rail Transit”.

Buy your ticket from a machine, either using cash or a card. Each ticket is valid for 2 ½ hours, for as many trips as you want!

The venue hotel (Radisson Blu) is attached to the Mall of America. You can access the hotel directly from the mall.

Besides enjoying the several attractions offered in the Mall, you can use the Light Rail to go all the way to Downtown Minneapolis and St. Paul. Lot of sites to visit and explore!

Things to Do While In Minneapolis!

Just a “walk around” through the Mall of America may take a few hours. According to some websites it still holds the title of the largest shopping mall in the USA. There is also a Sea Life with its 1.3 million gallons (almost 5 million liters) aquarium and the country’s biggest indoor amusement park, including 3 nice rollercoasters! Not to mention the over 500 shops…
Using the blue line of Light Rail Metro, you can easily get to downtown Minneapolis and the region of the Mill District and Stone Arch Bridge (shown in the top left photo). You can also take the green line from there and get to downtown St. Paul and the Capitol. Some say downtown St. Paul used to be the favorite place of Al Capone and his friends, so you may hear some nice stories visiting the underground pubs.

And the lakes… and trails… and a great temperature summer!

Join us for the IEEE EIC 2024 and be sure of having a nice time in the Twin Cities!
